Bozza - Aria |
Eugene Bozza (1905-1991): Aria for Clarinet and Piano (1936) Bozza, a little-known composer, conducted the orchestra of the Opera Comique until 1948 and then became Head of the Conservatoire in Valenciennes. He is most famous for his chamber music for winds but also wrote several operas, ballets, symphonic and choral works. His most famous works include En Foret for horn and piano and his work for saxophone. His music has lyricism, an elegance of structure and shows sensitivity to instrumental capabilities. This Aria was originally written in 1936 for celebrated saxophonist Marcel Mule, but has been transposed for the clarinet and other instruments, like Rachmaninov's similar wordless song, 'Vocalise'.
